I’ve never had the opportunity to sail aboard a Celebrity Cruises ship. So, when the chance arose for me to embark on the inaugural Edge sailing, I went for it! I’ve always wanted to sail with Celebrity and felt very fortunate for the chance to do so. I am Sara Falduti, Sales Support Specialist with Cruise Specialists. I am happy to share my Celebrity experience with you.
My Accommodations
I stayed in the Infinite Veranda, which is a concierge class balcony cabin with 23% larger than other Celebrity veranda staterooms. My stateroom came with a private veranda, and the best part of it was the floor-to-ceiling windows that gave me sweeping views of the ocean from my bed! Then, at the touch of a button, I could lower the upper panel of the windows to create my private balcony for a truly wonderful sailing experience. This was certainly unrivaled—in my book at least—and whet my appetite for more amazing things aboard the Edge.
Being a concierge class guest came with additional perks, including Priority Check-in at the pier for an easy boarding experience. The guest-to-staff ratio within the concierge class cabins is 2:1 which makes for attentive service throughout the voyage.
Personal Favorites
While I loved every moment of my time on the Edge, I had a few preferred places. After my wonderful time aboard the ship, the following stood out to me:
- Rooftop Garden
- Martini Bar
- The Retreat
Rooftop Garden
The Rooftop Garden was one of my favorite locations aboard the Edge. The inclusion of modern designs at the bar and restaurant were very aesthetically-pleasing, and the overall vibe was very comforting. At night, the garden area is alight and live music sets the relaxing atmosphere, perfect to wind the night down peacefully.
Martini Bar
For those who want a livelier spot to savor their beverage, I highly recommend the Edge’s Martini Bar. Housed within the ship’s multilevel Grand Plaza, the bar simply pulses with exuberant energy for all to enjoy. To begin, you can’t miss it—the Martini Bar is located directly beneath the plaza’s three-story chandelier. The space exudes the extravagant atmosphere of Renaissance Venice and is styled in much the same manner.
The bar is manned by a highly trained staff, evident in their impressive bottle flips—watching them at work is a show in itself—and sophisticated drink creations, crafted from memory. The result is the perfect cocktail to sip as you mingle with other passengers.
Retreat Lounge, Pool and Sundeck
The Retreat Lounge, Pool and Sundeck were some of my favorite places aboard the Edge. This adult-only area was wonderful for laying out and enjoying the sun with a cool drink from the Retreat Pool Bar. If you’d rather stay indoors, the Retreat Lounge was the place to be. It’s solely for Suite Class passengers and features live entertainment and delicious food and is open around the clock for refreshing beverages.
Superb Specialty Dinners
There are many amazing dining venues aboard the ship, and my favorite was the Normandie Restaurant. Its cuisine matched the upscale setting. I had broiled fish with asparagus, which was delectable, but the true winner was the magnificent crème brûlée. The chefs aboard the Edge know how to make it perfect with the inside custard being delightfully warm beneath the caramelized, toasted upper layer. If I could, I’d eat it every day!
Insider Tips
My biggest suggestion would be to make reservations at the specialty restaurants as early as possible—they go quickly! My next suggestion would be to plan on wearing country club casual throughout the day and then dressing it up a little at night. That way, you’ll fit right in aboard the Edge.
