If you’ve yet to embark on a World Cruise, you may wonder, “What type of person signs up for a multi-month voyage?”

You may also wonder, “Would I like it?” From our collective experience orchestrating World Cruises for more than 8,500 clients over the past 30 years, we can share some insight.

• World Cruisers tend to be inquisitive people interested in experiencing other cultures.
• They like the idea of a longer, more leisurely trip whereby they unpack just once – as opposed to a tour where they’re constantly having to pack/unpack and travel from one hotel to the next.
• They love that they visit multiple continents on one journey and that they can literally circumnavigate the globe without a single international flight.
• And as most World Cruises occur during the winter months, lots of folks jump at the chance to escape the cold winter back home.

Kenneth Meyer, a Cruise Specialists client and veteran of 16 World Cruises puts it very well, “Would you rather sit home and watch the snow come down, or see the world?”

That said, many of our World Cruisers are also from sunshine states such as Florida – so it really doesn’t matter where you’re from! Of course, special occasions can be the impetus for a World Cruise too. As one of our clients told us at the Cruise Specialists gala before her World Cruise last winter, “I’ll be 60 and I didn’t want to turn 60 in my own backyard.”

ONCE IN A LIFETIME? OR YEAR AFTER YEAR?

One might assume that a World Cruise is a singular, once-in-a-lifetime experience. To be sure, it’s a major bucket-list dream for many.

Interestingly, a significant number of our clients are repeat World Cruisers. Even though they may visit some destinations more than once over the years, they cherish the opportunity to return to a favorite café or shop, or use the opportunity to go beyond the highlights they may have seen the first time.

Others have formed strong friendships with past World Cruisers and enjoy the opportunity to spend time with these good friends – who often live across the country or the globe. Still others simply have the desire to experience as many different cultures as they can in their lifetime.
