A true vacation getaway, a wonderful ship and a close-up look at a beautiful culture: all that and more are part of Holland America Line’s “50-Day Tales of the South Pacific” cruise.
This is one of Cruise Specialists’ hosted cruises, filled with special amenities and fellow passengers who love cruising and exploring the world as much as you do. Throughout the journey, you’ll be accompanied by our personable, knowledgeable cruise host, Mr. Tom Mullen.
When and Where?
“50-Day Tales of the South Pacific” departs from Seattle on September 27, stopping in San Francisco and San Diego before touring the islands of Hawaii. The ship will sail on to the Samoas, Fiji, Bora Bora, Tahiti and more before returning to San Diego. It’s a fabulous South Pacific experience!
A Wonderful Ship
It all starts with a wonderful ship, Holland America’s msAmsterdam. This mid-size ship pays homage to the traditions of leisure cruising: there are classic teak deck chairs, authentic Art Deco pieces and champagne for everyone upon embarkation. You’ll love the Planeto Astrolabium, a stunning sculpture that graces the ship’s three-story atrium.
For all of its classic touches, the msAmsterdam is a modern ship, too. There’s an on board Digital Workshop where trained “techsperts” will help you edit your photos and videos to create digital scrapbooks of your cruise memories.
The Amsterdam has everything else you would expect on a fine ship, including the Greenhouse Spa’s blissfully pampering treatments and a fitness center where you can maintain your workout routine or start a new one.
All that activity will give you a great appetite, and msAmsterdam has a choice of mouthwatering dining venues, plus a Wine Tasting Room. In the Culinary Arts Center, a signature feature of Holland America ships, you can watch cooking demonstrations and try your hand at some exotic new dishes.
Your Own Space
There’s also a choice of staterooms, all equipped with luxurious beds and Egyptian cotton towels, massaging showerheads, and luxe bathrobes. Your steward will fill your ice bucket, shine your shoes, and even bring you fresh fruit to snack on.
Choose one of the spectacular Neptune or Pinnacle Suites for access to the private Neptune Lounge, where refreshments and concierge services are available all day.
Exclusive Cruise Specialist Excursion
Still, the ship is only half the story of this cruise; the other half is what you’ll see and do on shore. One of the several special amenities you’ll receive by sailing with Cruise Specialists is an exclusive – and complimentary – shore excursion in Fiji.
We’ll dock in the capital city of Suva on Viti Levu, the largest of Fiji’s more than 300 islands. Suva is the thriving center of government and commerce in this island nation, but we won’t need to travel far to experience life in a traditional Fijian village.
In Tagalevu village, the residents will welcome us with a traditional kava ceremony featuring Fiji’s national drink, yagona, made from the powered root of a pepper tree and served in a bilo (a half coconut shell). You’ll learn all about daily life in the village, including the many ways they use coconuts, as well as their traditional music and dance.
Our guests give rave reviews to this special experience:
“The best tour I’ve ever been on.” Ruth R.
“This was a real Fiji experience – one of my most enjoyable.” David R.
“This was the absolute best tour we had on the entire cruise.” Diane O.
