Each day our team now checks the mail with new enthusiasm, hoping for another beautiful postcard from Cruise Specialist host Tom Mullen. Over the last few months he has been treating us to glimpses of his Grand Pacific and Far East Voyage through these special momentos.
See part one of the ms Amerstdam from Holland America launch in Alaska and part two as they arrived in Japan.
In October, Tom delighted us with notes from China!
“So lovely to the Great Wall and at the Autumn time of year. Walked so far, but not the whole length!!” Pictured here is the Great Wall which is over 5500 miles in length and dates back to 7th century BC.
“Bejing is a busy city. The Forbidden City is no exception from the North Gate to the South Gate. A marvel to see with good walking shoes.” Pictured here is the Square of the Gate of Supreme Harmony where during the Ming Dinasty court was held and now marks one of the southern gates of the Forbidden city.
“Sailed up the river, wonderful sights of new and old Shang Hai, so many lights and a local show on the dockside on arrival.” Pictured here the Huangpu River which flows through downtown Shang Hai.
Before leaving China, Tom took a flight to Xi’an and spent time exploring the Terracotta warriors and horses collection. He ventured through all three pits of the Terracotta Army which hold more than 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots with 520 horses and 150 cavalry horse designed to protect a dead emperor.
Stay tuned for the next of incredible Far East images from Tom!
