During our recent trip aboard Holland America Line’s fabulous Polynesian Paradise & Incan Empires 63–day cruise we spent a fabulous day in Costa Rica. Encouraged by our experienced and enthusiastic group member, Sharron Hiebert, four other adventuresome Cruise Specialists
passengers set out on a truly marvelous day Zip Lining through the rain forests of Costa Rica.
The Rotterdam docked in Puerto Caldera where we took the worthwhile Holland America Line tour to Turu’Bari Tropical Park. Our group of five included Sharron, Lynn, Buddy and Irene and Tony Kalich. We suited up in harnesses and hard hats, then boarded the arial tram for an 80 minute ride above the tree canopy to ascend the mountain. At the top, we hooked on to the first of 10 zip lines that
ultimately brought us back to the bottom. It was beautiful and thrilling to soar through the tropical forest in a manner that Tarzan would have envied.
Even though we spent two full hours on the zip line, it was not enough. We would have all liked to do it again. Zip lining was a highlight of our cruise and a ‘must do’ for those ready for a ‘wow’ adventure. It was almost as good as the day we rode
ATV’s on the sand dues of Namibia – but that’s a story for another day.
Cheers!

P.S. We can’t wait to see what thrills await us on our next adventures! In July we head to Northern Europe aboard Holland America’s 2010 Voyage of the Vikings and in September we are off to Bermuda for Cruise Specialists Reunion Cruise!
