Buddy and I were very lucky to recently get to take part in an exclusive Cruise Specialists Bora Bora shore tour. Cruise Specialists designed a series of unique and exclusive tours for our January 2010 Rotterdam 63-day Polynesian Paradise & Incan Empires cruise.
Our excursion began with a spectacular drive around this island paradise in a local, open-air ‘Le Truck’. The brightly decorated bus contributed to our festive mood. We enjoyed the island culture in style, seated on floral cushions, the wind in our hair, and the scent of tropical flowers drifting though the open windows.
We stopped a local family pareo production sight. Pareos are wraparound skirts traditionally worn by Tahitian women. These colorful cloths usually have floral designs and tribal tattoo motifs. You can use them not only as beach wear but they also make nice wall hangings or table cloths. On our visit we saw a demonstration of how pareos are painted as well as
different ways of tying or wrapping them around your body. Some of the ladies purchased the colorful pareos to take home as souvenirs.
Next up was the opportunity for stunning photos of Fa’anui Bay as we made the drive to our exclusive cocktail party at the Sofitel Bora Bora Beach Resort. The Sofitel is situated on a picturesque turquoise lagoon complete with white beaches and a
large infinity pool. It was stunning and we were all impressed! The party was set up in the open air bar and continued down to the beachside deck. There was live island music, good food and umbrella drinks for everyone. What an outstanding party in paradise! No one wanted to leave.
Our last stop was at the famous Bloody Mary’s Restaurant for a quick look and opportunity to purchase t-shirts donning their logo. This festive locale certainly gets you into the island spirit with a thatched roof, sandy floors and fun bar. Bloody Mary’s is also a popular spot for
Celebrities to make an appearance – just read the long list of movie stars the restaurant has on site.
It was a very successful excursion and one for which Cruise Specialists can be justly proud.
Cheers!
