Reporting From The New AmaPrima
As part of our continuing series of river cruise reviews for Cruise Specialists, I’m on the Danube, en route to Melk, Austria, experiencing some of the innovations on the new AmaPrima. After pedaling 25+ kilometers today on bicycles provided free of charge on AmaPrima, I’m looking forward to a dip in the swimming pool and perhaps a glass of champagne from the swim-up bar as we cruise through the beautiful Wachau Valley from charming Durnstein to mystical Melk.
Tonight we’ll have dinner in the aft-facing specialty restaurant, Erlebnis. The panoramic views should be spectacular as we cruise along the Danube this evening.
I also have the good fortune to be cruising with two of the line’s founders, Rudi Schreiner and Kristin Karst. I’ll try to glean their insights about river cruising and AmaWaterways’ future initiatives. Seems there is always something new happening at AmaWaterways. The company that started in 2002 now operates more than a dozen vessels in Europe, Russia, Vietnam and Cambodia, and Africa.
On Tuesday, I’ll be reporting from Vilshofen, Germany, where AmaPrima will be christened. Stay tuned!
